Is Online Privacy Really Just a Myth?

May 30, 2010 2 Comments

Spokeo.com can show you just how online privacy is almost a myth. And maybe this is why Zuckerberg of  Facebook don’t believe in it.

People who don’t reside in the USA should be thankful sometimes. In the US, there’s a website named Spokeo in which anyone can find your name, age, ethnicity, marital status, religion, politics, address, home phone number, mobile phone number, e-mail address, social networking profiles, photos, videos and blogs -just for a monthly subscription of $2.95.

Go ahead and search yourseelf on Spokeo.com and be surprised to see how much information about you is available to anyone. -ABCnews.go

Most probably, the problem is that most people don't care about online privacy (like me before). And the problem with that is that they don't realize that that's an advantage to hackers and scammers. Bottom line: we can't not care about online privacy. -How Much Do Most People Really Care About Privacy? by Mike Masnick on TechDirt

This is bad news for all Windows XP SP2 loyalists like me. Microsoft will officially retire Windows XP SP2 on July 13. After that date, although it will continue to provide security updates for XP SP3, it will stop issuing patches for the older SP2.
